Building "D" for the Security Benefit Association complex was completed in about 1928. Its upper floors were used as the nurses' residence. (When the complex first opened, the nurses were housed in The Tower Building, but the space was soon needed for patients.) The lower floor housed the maintenance shops and fire fighting equipment. When the Menninger Foundation purchased the property, the building was used for offices and shops for plant operations personnel and later included the Credit Union. The conservatory and pond are still visible in this photo. They were soon demolished.
