Pair of large, white rubber "Mickey Mouse" boots. Lace-up front with nylon ties. The donor, a veteran of the Korean War, purchased these boots from another veteran in western Kansas. "Mickey Mouse" boots were first issued to American troops during the Korean War. The boots are formed of a wool-lined interior and several layers of rubber. They were meant to protect the soldiers feet from moisture and extremely cold temperatures. Because the appearance of the boots reminded the soldiers of the shoes worn by Mickey Mouse, they jokingly referred to them as such.
