This photo of West Third Street, Alma, Kansas was taken in 1910. After the arrival of the railroad, Alma became a boom town. In 1884, 52 buildings were erected. Many of these structures, including these on West Third Street (Main Street until 1920) were constructed of wood. Stores include, from left to right: The Alma Tailor, Ferd Herrmann's Shoe and Harness Shop, the Free Methodist Church, and Freeman Mercantile.
