These item, sent by Dr. Wilson Hobbs of Knightstown, Indiana, to Franklin G. Adams of the Kansas State Historical Society, provide details on Hobbs' tenure as superintendent and principal of the Friends Mission School that was located near the settlement of Westport. According to Hobbs, the school that he worked at "was upon the lands of the Shawnee and was especially for their benefit."
