These are three albums with photographs, letters and newspaper clippings documenting the life of Stephen Hurd Smith and his family. Smith was born in Grantville, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Stephen E. Smith. After the death of his wife, Dr. Smith moved the family to Topeka where Stephen Hurd Smith graduated from Topeka High School. He began his career working at Hall Lithographing Inc. selling cameras, and later started his own successful business Steve Smith Audio-Visuals Inc., Topeka, Kansas. In addition to his audio-visual business, he produced films on fire safety and training that were widely used throughout the United States. Smith married Ruth Royer in 1920 and they had two daughters and one son.
