A collection of photographs showing Solomon Humbargar and his family. He came to Kansas in 1857, first settling on the Solomon River in northeast Saline County. He was a farmer, buffalo hunter, and scout. Humbargar later moved to the north bank of Saline River, and in 1866, he built a log house. He married Nancy Ann Alley in 1871, and they had two sons, Charles and Howard. The family lived in this house until the 1890s when a two and one-half story, eleven-room frame house was constructed southeast of the log house.
