A photograph showing American troops in a German town during World War II. The photograph was taken by Hilton Parris Mize, who found a camera during the war and with film supplied by his wife, Irene Rosenberger Mize, he started taking photographs. Mize graduated from Highland College in 1936, and taught in rural schools from 1936 to 1942. On November 16, 1942, he was inducted into the Army and served until his discharge on November 30, 1945. Mize was a member of the 413th regiment of the 104th Infantry Division, known as the Timberwolves, and they participated in several campaigns in northern France, central Europe and the Rhineland. Mize was discharged as a staff sergeant.
