Glen Korthanke was inducted into the Navy in 1944 and served until 1946. He went to boot camp in Farragut, Idaho, and aircraft mechanics school in Norman, Oklahoma. He also attended gunnery school. He was trained as a control bomber PVT in Lake City, Florida and was then sent to the Pacific theater. He was born November 15, 1923 near Robinson, Kansas, and graduated from Hiawatha High School. He was a baseball player and provided a lot of information about that as well as his family. He was interviewed by Suzette McCord-Rogers on Jul 13, 2007. The 2005 Kansas Legislature passed a bill funding the WWII Veterans Oral History grant program. This transcript is from one of the community institutions receiving grants.
