A copy of a letter written by G. P. Lowry, Hudson, Michigan, to Henry, describing Kansas' Territorial Governor Andrew Reeder's escape from Kansas. In the spring of 1856, Reeder and others were being sought by Sheriff Samuel Jones and other pro-slavery men. Several people were arrested and put in the Lecompton, Kansas jail and charged with treason. Reeder, disguised as a woodcutter, managed to escape with others.
