This political postcard shows Kansas Governor Mike Hayden and Kansas' First Lady Patti Hayden with Win Priddle and Republican candidate for Lt. Governor Harland Priddle. A native of Haven, Kansas, Priddle served as assistant secretary of the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson, Kansas, 1975-1978, before being elected the ninth secretary of the Kansas State Board of Agriculture, 1982-1987. In 1987, Governor Hayden appointed Priddle as Kansas secretary of commerce, 1987-1991. As secretary of commerce, Priddle played a key role on the Governor's Task Force on Rural Communities before accepting the Republican nomination for Lt. Governor. Hayden and Priddle were later defeated in the November general election by Democratic challenger Joan Finney and her running mate James Franciso.
