This black and white photograph shows two men holding signs promoting the Knights and Ladies Security Insurance Company, at the corner of Seventh and Kansas Avenue, in Topeka, Kansas. The fraternal organization, founded in 1892 in Topeka, Kansas, provided life insurance to individuals and promoted social services to the elderly, poor, disabled, and widows and orphans alike. In 1919, the company merged with the National American Association of Kansas City and became the Security Benefit Association. The company ceased as a fraternal organization in 1950 and became a life insurance company know as Security Benefit Life Insurance.
