This black and white photograph shows the twenty-seventh President of the United States William Howard Taff in Leavenworth, Kansas. In the background patriotic decorations line the street in his honor as crowds of spectators gathered at the corner of Fifth and Delaware. The president's motorcade was moving toward Haymarket Square at Seventh and Cherokee where Taft would deliver a speech to a crowd of 20,000 defending his tariff policies.
