This letter, from Boeing Vice President J. Earl Schaefer to Major W.E. Treadway of the Selective Service, details the Boeing Airplane Company's complaints with the way personnel were selected for either military service or service in the defense industry. Schaefer explains to Treadway that people taken from Boeing for military service only hamper the company's effort to build B-29s to meet the U.S. Army Air Force's insatiable demand for heavy bombers.
