This black and white photograph shows the President of the Kansas Senate, (1976-1984), Ross Doyen and Director of the Kansas State Historical Society Joseph W. Snell (left to right). Doyen a Republican from Concordia, Kansas, was elected to the Kansas House of Representatives and served five terms, before being elected to the Kansas Senate from the twenty third district. As a senator, Doyen supported the preservation of the Kansas State Capitol, the Brown Grand Opera House in Concordia, Kansas and funding for the building of the Kansas Museum of History.
