Hall & McCabe,
Locaters & Land Agents.
Nicodemus, Graham Co., Kans, 4/11 1879.
The Honorable the Governor of Kansas
We desire to refresh your memory relative to your promise to us, of an interview held with you at your office, during the month of January. The promise was that, when Graham County applied for organization, if in any manner consisting with your practice you could further the interests of Nicodemus, you would do so. Memorials to your Excellency praying for organizations are now circulating throughout the county and are receiving many signatures of bona fide residents and householders. In a few days they will be forwarded to you. Among other things they set forth that, “owing to the number of localities which desire to secure the county seat, we herewith append a list of them and pray your Excellency to select
there from a temporary county seat.” What we ask of you is to use your options, thus given you by the signers, and declare Nicodemus as temporary County Seat. We think that you will find it within the scope of your jurisdiction to so favor us, for our sole purpose in desiring it is the upbuilding of Nicodemus and our people are the first settlers and desire it only temporary. Please favor us with an early reply and obbgi.
My respectfully Yours
A.T. Hall and McCabe
