Thomas McCarroll of Parsons, Kansas, telegrams Governor John Martin of Topeka after investigating riot conditions in Parsons following the railroad strike of 1885. Although the strike had been settled, problems between the railroad and employees continued after several employees involved in the strike had been let go by the company. Conditions were especially critical in Parsons where trains had been derailed and rioters attempted to halt normal railway functions.
