This photograph shows children working in a Kansas beet field. According to the notation on the back of the photograph, this image appeared in William H. Cape's thesis, Child Labor in Kansas, completed in 1948.
This photograph illustrates the type of labor that children contributed to the farm. It could be grouped with the letter by Vicente Villamin, dated June 25, 1928, and the response to this letter by Daisy Gulick, dated June 27, 1928 (both selected for this standard). Both discuss child labor in beet fields.
