A view of the Rood family farm's house and barn near East Branch Township in Marion County, Kansas. The Rood family (George H. Rood in partnership with his wife, Helen, and son, Ashley) operated a successful farming, livestock, and feed business in Marion County. The house, built in 1889 and converted into a duplex to accommodate son Ashley's family, was demolished in 1979. The unique combination barn and grain elevator, built in 1897 with what was then very modern and innovative mechanized and gasoline-powered equipment, was demolished in 1980.
