This photograph shows nearly two dozen young boys competing in a pie eating contest, on a table constructed of boards and saw horses, at the Marysville Country Club, just north of Marysville, Kansas. The competition was part of a back-to-school party at the end of summer. Originally built as a private residence in 1872 by flour mill owner, Perry Hutchinson, the house was purchased and converted for use by the Marysville Country Club in the 1920s.
