Certificate of Incorporation
Of
The Singleton Colony
First.
The name of this Corporation shall be The Singleton Colony of Morris and Lyon Counties, State of Kansas
Second.
The purpose for which this Corporation is formed is to promote immigration and the encouragement of agriculture and the acquisition of homes for colored people.
Third. The place where its business is to be transacted is at Dunlap in the county of Morris, State of Kansas.
Fourth.
The term for which this Corporation is to exist is fifty years.
Fifth.
The number of directors or trustees of this Corporation shall be not more than thirteen.

and the names and residences of those who are appointed for the first year are
Benjamin Singleton, W. A. Sizemore, A. Defrantz, [Fred] Williamson, George Wade, George Moon, John Elliott, Austin Dozier and John Davis William Shrout, John Wade are all of Dunlap Morris County, State of Kansas

Personally appeared before me, a notary public in and for Shawnee county, Kansas, the above-named. Benjamin Singleton, W. A. Sizemore, A. D. Defrantz, William Shrout and John Wade who are personally known to me to be the same persons who executed the foregoing instrument of writing, and duly acknowledged the execution of the same.
