Thankful for your kind help in selecting me as the Attorney of the United States for this District, having been chosen the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of my State, I offer my resignation of the Office of District Attorney of the United States for the District of Kansas, to take effect on Monday the 4th day of January A. D. 1864.
