Sen. J. L. Bristow,

Salina, Kans.

Dear Sir:

Having learned from my parents, that you are again in Salina, I take this opportunity of thanking you for my appointment to West Point.

Although I wrote to you immediately after receiving the appointment last November, it’s value to me has been greatly increased, since I was notified that I had passed the entrance examinations.  I took the entrance examinations at Jefferson Barracks Mo., in January.

One of my alternates,  Mr. Platner, did not pass, but I understand the other one did.

So trusting that you will accept my heartiest thanks for the great favor you have conferred upon me, I am

Respectfully yours,
