Having learned from my parents, that you are again in Salina, I take this opportunity of thanking you for my appointment to West Point.
Although I wrote to you immediately after receiving the appointment last November, it’s value to me has been greatly increased, since I was notified that I had passed the entrance examinations. I took the entrance examinations at Jefferson Barracks Mo., in January.
One of my alternates, Mr. Platner, did not pass, but I understand the other one did.
I have been ordered to report at West Point, June 14, this year.
