This photographs represent Jonathan McMillan Davis, 1871-1943, a farmer and politician from Bronson, Kansas. Davis begins his political career, in 1900, when he is elected as a Democrat to the Kansas House of Representatives. A position he is reelected to in 1908 and 1910. In 1912 Davis is elected to the Kansas Senate where he serves from 1913-1915. In the November general election of 1922, he is elected the twenty-second governor of Kansas defeating his Republican challenger William Yoast Morgan. Davis is a one term governor serving from January 08, 1923 to January 12, 1925. During his administration he secures funding for veterans' pensions, recognizes women's suffrage and authorizes improvements in roads.
