Members of Marshall's Band of Topeka, Kansas, on stage at the Kansas Semi-Centennial Exposition. The exposition was held to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the passage of the Kansas-Nebraska bill, approved by President Franklin Pierce on May 30, 1854, which created Kansas Territory and paved the way for Kansas' admittance into the Union. The semi-centennial anniversary of Kansas statehood was January 29, 1911.
