The plans were drawn as part of a project to recondition existing buildings and the caretaker's facilities.

An architectural drawing of the exterior to the El Navajo Hotel in Gallup, New Mexico. The concept for the drawing was first designed by Mary Jane Colter for the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad and later incorporated by the company's architect E. A. Harrison. Colter, an interior designer and architect for the Fred Harvey company from 1910 to 1948, designed a number of hotels and restaurants along the Santa Fe Railway. Some of her famous projects included: the La Posada Hotel Winslow, Arizona; the Avarado Hotel, Albuquerque, New Mexico; and the El Tovar Hotel in the Grand Canyon.

John Gideon Haskell's architectural plans for the Thatcher building located at 112 East Eighth Street between Quincy Street and Kansas Avenue in Topeka, Kansas. It was originally occupied by O'Donald Lithographing Company and later by George W. Crane and Company. It cost around $40,000 to construct the building.
