A photograph of Mark Watson Howe posed in front of a barn with a team of horses. Howe was born near West Union, Iowa, and came to Kansas with his family in 1873. They homesteaded near Esbon, Jewell County, Kansas. On October 23, 1895, Mark married Alice Morrow, and they began farming six miles southeast of Esbon. They had three children, Clifford, Bernice, and Richard.

A postcard view of George Christina Howe posed with his stallion Dan. Howe lived on a farm near Otego, Jewell County, Kansas. In 1872, he came to Kansas with his parents and they settled on a farm near Esbon. Howe, a farmer, married Jennie A. Cornish on September 8, 1897, and they had one child, Helen.
